What do you remember? What does that date mean to you?

I was a stay at home with 2 small children, ages 1 and 4. We always kept the tv on PBS or Nickelodean. My Husband called and asked if I had been watching TV. I told him of course, and he said "Real" TV. I turned over to a regular network and was shocked as I watched the 2nd plane hit the buildings and then watched as the buildings collapsed. I was in total shock and then fear swept in. Would they start aiming planes at Atlanta? We have the largest International airport in the world. Could we be next? We mourned with the country in the days, weeks, months to follow.

My Brother in law decided that he needed and wanted to do something. he chose to enlist. He ended up in the National Guard as a medic and was sent to Iraq in May, 2005. In October, 2005, His humvee hit an IED. He was sent to Ramstein Air Force base and under went brain surgery and part of his temperal lobe removed to stop the bleeding. We hope you all have had a great summer and are ready to get started in a new school year. We have a lot of new and some old things to share with you.

Let's begin with what you will need for class. This year you will be required to keep a 3 ring binder. I would recommend dividers to keep notes and homework seperated. I would also recommend keeping a pencil holder in your notebook. You need to use pencils in class, NOT PENS!! Also make sure you have plenty of paper.

Something new we are going to do this year is to keep a math journal. You can do this 1 of 2 ways: you can either keep a notebook in class or a section in your binder or you can keep a blog online. We will go over blogs more in class. If you choose to keep a paper journal, you can keep your journal in class. I will give you a place to store them.

Calculators are a must for class. You can get one at Walmart for about $10 that will do what we need you to do. Any scientific calculator will do. A good one is the TI-30x. A graphing calculator would be nice but is not required. Good graphing calculators are the TI-83 or TI-84.

We will be using this blog to help post homework and other news that you may need, along with some help.

I look forward to working with each of you this year.
