Tell me where you were September 11, 2001. What do you remember? What does that date mean to you?
I was a stay at home with 2 small children, ages 1 and 4. We always kept the tv on PBS or Nickelodean. My Husband called and asked if I had been watching TV. I told him of course, and he said "Real" TV. I turned over to a regular network and was shocked as I watched the 2nd plane hit the buildings and then watched as the buildings collapsed. I was in total shock and then fear swept in. Would they start aiming planes at Atlanta? We have the largest International airport in the world. Could we be next? We mourned with the country in the days, weeks, months to follow.
My Brother in law decided that he needed and wanted to do something. he chose to enlist. He ended up in the National Guard as a medic and was sent to Iraq in May, 2005. In October, 2005, His humvee hit an IED. He was sent to Ramstein Air Force base and under went brain surgery and part of his temperal lobe removed to stop the bleeding. He came back to the states and was at Walter Reed Hospital in Washington DC.
While he was in the Hospital he met President and Mrs. Bush when the President came by to personally present to the injured men with their Purple Hearts.

On the day of September 11, 2001, I remember being at school.
I was in 5th grade at the time, and I remember the teacher turning on the television and hearing what had happened to the Pentagon.
I felt so confused, because I didn't know what was going on.
I feel so bad for all of those people that died, and the families they left behind. My heart goes out to them.

What a great journaling topic. I was in front of my seventh grade students ready to begin a new day when our administrative assistant came through the room and whispered to me that a plane had crashed into one of the Twin Towers in New York. I, too, was confused and unsure of what had happened. My son was in boot camp for the Marines at the time so I was very worried about what this would mean for him. I remember thinking that this would change us forever ...
and it has.
Hi my name is kidist, i actually wasn't even in this country when september 11 happened, so i really don't understand the situation clearly even to this day.

I was in 5th grade and I remember I was doing smoe busy work with the people at my table. My teacher came in crying and said that there had been a disaster in NYC. She turned on the TV and we watched the news. It wasn't until I got home that I realized the full impact of what had happened. It was a very sad day I must say.

Well...I can't really remember what happened that day. I think I was in 5th or 6th grade. I might've been at school and I remember my mom telling me about what happened. We watched it on the news and I was really worried for my cousin and all my family that I have up there in New York. I remember freaking out when I called them but no one answered. It was a terribly sad day and I feel for the people who lost their lives and the families left behind...

Hi this Macy. On 9/11 i was living in savannah at the time i was in the seventh grade. i was in math class and my teacher turned on the tv and she made us watch the news to see what was going on. I didn't really understand it then i thought it was just a movie. but when i got home later on that day every channel i turned to it was on i couldn't believe i was watching histroy in the making. it was so sad seeing all of those people crying and scared. it was really upsetting to watch. 9/11 changed me in many ways by how i never take things for granted and tragic accident can happen in just the blink of an eye. it really woke me up to see that it is rral in the world things or not fun. may god bless everyone who lost someone in 9/11 and bring back our troops..
during this day when all the bad things happened I was in school. I remember I was in 6th grade. this date means alot to me because hundreds of people died that day.

My friend mom was a flight attendent, her mom was stranded in a state, and couldn't leave for a couple of days. That devistated her and hurt me. *Anjellica S.*
